In this video, we push the limits to understand which punch material prevents dangerous failures. We analyze different punches, their geometry, treatments, and failure behavior. To demonstrate it, we perform an extreme test: punching a sheet with a diameter smaller than its thickness. The result is clear: the HSS punch fails violently and becomes a projectile, while the F-524 (1.2550) punch deforms and fractures in a controlled way. The key is not just hardness, but how the material behaves when it fails.
